KHARBANDI GOMPA
Perched amidst a lush garden adorned with tropical flora and vibrant flowers, this enchanting monastery in Phuentsholing offers a serene sanctuary at an altitude of 400 meters (1,300 feet) above the bustling town. Founded in 1967 by the esteemed Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choedron, the monastery stands as a testament to Bhutanese devotion and cultural heritage.
Within its sacred walls, the monastery houses intricate paintings depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha, alongside revered statues of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche, revered figures in Bhutanese Buddhism. ZANGTHO PELRI
Situated in the heart of Phuentsholing town, this petite temple serves as a celestial abode honoring the esteemed Guru Rinpoche. Grounded in reverence, the temple’s lower level features statues portraying the eight manifestations of Guru Rinpoche, alongside vivid paintings capturing moments from the life of the Buddha. These sacred depictions embody the spiritual journey and teachings central to Bhutanese Buddhism.
Ascending to the next floor, visitors are greeted by wall paintings depicting the eight Bodhisattvas, symbolizing compassion and enlightenment, while statues of Avalokiteshvara and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal exude divine presence and historical significance.
Crowning the temple’s summit, the top floor unveils the centerpiece: a majestic statue of Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, radiating tranquility and enlightenment.
